WordPress team announced an update for its 2.8 version with lots of patches in less than a months time after the release of WordPress 2.8.5. This version 2.8.6 is mainly about the Administrator security breaches and took care that most of the patches in the earlier versions were solved to make sure that the road map is clear to the release of WordPress 2.9 version.
2.8.6 version has mainly concentrated on two security fixes where an user who have posting permissions can exploit the WordPress blog. it is recommended to upgrade to 2.8.6 if you have any untrusted authors on your blog.
Although my blog doesnt have multi authors at this point of time I have upgraded automatically to keep myself updated.
In the mean time most successful plugins like All in one SEO, Google XML Sitemaps and Contact form 7 have also updated their versions to be compatible with Wordpress 2.8.6.

Neither security issue affects me but I upgraded anyway. I always want to be on the latest version, just in case!
