If you have checked the Best ways to get Instant Traffic to your blog, commenting is one among them and drives you a good traffic and also lets you to maintain good relationships with fellow bloggers. It has been 2 months I have started TechCats and now we are in position of 100+ unique visits per day, 200-300 page views and Alexa Rank close to 150k, these all happened because of the continuous efforts to make at least one post per day and also commenting on other blogs.

I definetly agree with you Raj, and not only me most of the blogger will agree with you. Initially when I started blogging I had visitors around 5 to 10 avg, but after I started reading other blog and commenting on them (thats both positive and negavite) my traffice rose to 45+ of unique visitors in a span of one month……………
And congrats to you for improved ranking and traffice this is what all bloggers look for. So we all can see your blog break into the 1lac barrier very soon…………..

I do my best to browse the net and comment on posts. This does help my blog and one can notice the difference. Using commentLuv also helps the commentator as they get a link back to their site.
BUT one must not just leave spamming comments for the sake of it as that could effect your reputation.

Great points, Rajesh. I’ve found that I too got the biggest traffic boosts early on by commenting on sites. Those also started some good relationships.

Though blog commenting is NOT the top referrer of traffic to my blog, still it contributes a great amount of traffic. Traffic aside, it helps me keeping in touch with fellow bloggers, which in my opinion is much more important in the long run than the mere traffic!

But what many people do is while commenting they include their link in it.
Many of them don’t even read the post, they just come and drop links, which makes a worst experience.
Though askimet blocks comment spam for more than 2 links, we don’t want to block user comments if they leave a genuine link related to their comment.

Rajesh, this is a great advice to get traffic to your blog. But tell me one thing.. what if the blog that you are commenting has a nofollow tag to its comments… then there is no use commenting there. I guess… so how do we know if any blog has nofollow tag active for his/her comments…

I think commenting only on do follow blogs wont help you much in gaining traffic except getting a higher PR for your blog.. commenting on all blogs(including no follow) and participating actively makes sense and helps you in maintaining sound relationships with fellow bloggers.. you check the page source of a particular blog and check the comments scetion to know about the follow status of the blog..
