What is Google Buzz? Google Buzz Review

Everyone is talking about the Google Buzz just as the hype created in Google Wave. I really don’t know far this Buzz will fare but the Social Networking trackers and analysts already started saying that there is nothing new to do with Buzz. Microsoft and Yahoo said that Google’s Buzz is a old wine coming in the new bottle. Keeping the wrong apart I would like to tell that Google Buzz is a really nice to interact with the people but the update management is a bit clumsy and seems that Google has to take care of that or should provide a separate interface for this platform.

Still the confusions were going on the air and Google have done a mistake by not sending mail to the people who were asked to check buzz. Although it made an official announcement only web enthusiasts, Social media trackers were only aware of it any many still think that they have landed to Google Phishing site once when they saw the Google Buzz when they logged to their accounts. I Think this should be handled and allow people to understand what buzz is.? Privacy of the contact sharing is already challenged in Google Buzz and there were mixed views on the Google Buzz Have wait for some time how Google will handle this.

But there some features which should be appreciated and good enough to make buzz successful over the time unlike Google Wave which is a dumbstruck?

No setup needed
Separate setup is no needed for those who want to try buzz. It Automatically follows the people in your GMail with whom you will our email and chat for most of the time.

Public or Private

Privacy options were enhanced in such a way that the sharing options were enhanced and one could select the privacy of the share, It could be either public or private.

Photo Support

Unlike twitter it supports photos and the thumbnails were displayed right in the post just as it appear in facebook. Also browse full screen photos from the popular site.

Connect Other Site

Import your stuff from Twitter, Picasa, Flickr, and Google Reader right into the buzz.

Others

Integration with GMail Inbox helps you in receiving and posting Comments right from your inbox so it’s easy to keep the conversation going. Also the New posts and comments pop in as they happen No separate refresh is required. to recieve the updates. Buzz recommends interesting posts and weeds out ones you’re likely to skip.

Google Buzz is the latest trend and even the Google trends say that everyone is eager to know about what Google Buzz is and how it is different or easy when compared to other sharing sites. But at the same time it is creating unnecessary annoys for all those who doesn’t want to mess up their inbox with this new “Buzz”.

How To Hide/Remove Google Buzz Updates in Gmail

All the Buzz notification were matching with the Gmail query label:buzz, so it definetly be a help for us and one can easily manage the “Buzz” alerts by creating a new filter to keep those Buzz notifications out of your inbox.

1. Click on “Create a New Filter”

2. Then enter “label:buzz” in the field “has words”

3. Click on “Next Step” and accept the “Warning: Filter searches containing “label:”, “in:”, or “is:” criteria are not recommended, as these criteria will never match incoming mail. (Click on OK to continue further)

4. Finally select the “Skip the inbox (Archive it)” to archive the messages or simply select “delete it” to save the space and completely ignore the Buzz. Create a new filter say”No Buzz” and apply the setting to create the filter.

How To Remove Google Buzz in Gmail Inbox Permanently?

Note: Alternatively if you don’t want to have Buzz in the GMail Inbox the select “Turn off buzz” which is there at the bottom of the page.

Although my favorite browser is Firefox (recently they have released 3.6 beta4), Chrome is the 2^nd browser which I prefer to use for browsing. Till date Google Chrome is available for windows users and now Google started expanding its wings to Mac & Linux which raised the competition curtains for Mac safari browser. Chrome for Linux is all the way expected as they have released Chromium OS recently which is built on Linux. If you haven’t get a chance to preview chrome OS check out How to install Chrome OS.

Google Chrome for Mac (Beta)

In an official announcement at Google Blog they have announced the Google Chrome Browser for the Mac. They have worked a lot on the design, animations, and effects to create a nappy and satisfying browser experience on OS X. They claimed themselves that it is the fastest browser on Mac and works better than safari.

Google Chrome for Linux (Beta)

As I said there is no wonder that Google released Linux browser as they have a dedicated team working on their Linux based OS Chromium. Google Comes Up With A Public DNS

Google introduced public DNS which helps in resolving the IP address and it claims that it speeds up the page loading time and gives you a new web experience and also the most interesting aspect is it claims that it is Secure. Using Google Public DNS reduces the spoofing attacks which leads to DNS cache poisoning and also Denial of Service(DOS) attacks.

What is DNS?

Domain Name System (DNS) is a standard IP service that allows your computer to resolve domain names. DNS resolves the IP address for the domain name you enter and brings up the webpages. In simple terms, DNS is a system which translates domain names into IP addresses.

What are Google Public DNS IP’s?

Google Public DNS is a free, global Domain Name System (DNS) resolution service, that you can use as an alternative to your current DNS provider.

Configure your network settings to use the IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers. For windows users check out the screenshot to know where you have to enter the DNS IP’s.

How To Install Google Chrome OS

Google Chromium is the most hyped Operating system these days and recently they have released Source Code of the OS to the public. You can check out the Screenshots and Overview video of the Google chrome OS. The initial sketch of the Chromium OS project includes current code base, user interface experiments and some initial designs for ongoing development. You can download the Chrome OS and install that in a live machine or in a virtual machine.

How to Install Chrome OS in a Live Machine

Download Google Chrome ISO and burn that to CD.
Insert the CD in the computer and restart the machine and change the BIOS boot sequence to CD/DVD ROM.
Then Google Chrome OS setup will be launched and then press F2 to select the language and it initiates the launch of the OS.
Click on the live installer and just follow the live instructions.

Note: The username is “user” and the password is “root” for the OS. Enter the username and password when asked and as essential.

How to Install Chrome OS in a Virtual Machine

Download VMDK image of Google OS.
The tar ball contains VMDK and VMX files you need to download VM Player or Virtual Box to run it.
Extract the downloaded image, and create a new virtual machine in VM Player/Virtual box.
After creating the virtual machine select existing hard disk and attach the downloaded VMDK hard disk file.
Play the VM and login using your Gmail username and password.
